The Soup Cellar
Our MenuAbout UsContact UsHome
We are Dave and Kathy Murphy, raised in the Pacific Northwest.  We married young, only 18 and 22, and celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in June 2009.  We have 3 terrific children, who have grown up in Leavenworth and The Soup Cellar of course. We are grateful to live in such a great community. There are lots of generous, kind and caring folks that call Leavenworth home and lots of outdoor recreation to enjoy with family and friends.  We were told we were crazy to sell all of our belongings and move to Leavenworth. After all neither of us had any real restaurant experience.  We knew no one in Leavenworth, but we had lots of energy, perseverance, and an adventurous spirit and believed we could learn to do anything.

Sincerely,
David, Kathy, Aaron, Amanda & Micah and of course Davey and Goliath (our best friends, the wiener dogs)

What we are doing at The Soup Cellar to conserve and be good stewards over our natural resources.

The Soup Cellar has a basement location so we just naturally use less heat and A/C. We also are using a modified dishwashing system that uses less than 1/2 of the usual amount of water. Our lighting is low energy fluorescent lighting. We use recycled fryer oil to power our biodiesel pick up, which produces less harmful emissions and makes us less dependent on foreign oil. Oh, did I mention our truck smells like French Fries too! (Yum! Yum!) Saving money on fuel gives us more money to spend in our local economy. Biodegradable products are also a concern for us, so we are working towards replacing Styrofoam products with more environmentally friendly products. Growing garden produce, purchasing locally grown produce and composting is another area we are pursuing. Why do we care about these things? Because we want to take care of the earth, our home, that God has blessed us with.
